Tensions between Muslims and Jews are nearing a fever pitch over retaliatory violence in Jerusalem.  A West Bank Mosque burned early on Wednesday, and a few hours later a Synagogue was attacked with a Molotov cocktail.

Ramallah Mayor Faraj al-Naassaneh blamed Jewish settlers for the attack, saying that “only Jewish settlers would do this”.  He pointed to a previous settler attack against another mosque in the same town two years ago.  And Jewish Settlers are frequently accused of attacks against Palestinian vehicles and olive groves there.

“A call was received in the morning hours about an act of arson against a mosque in the village of Al-Maghir,” said Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld.  Officers were deployed outside the mosque; Rosenfeld says civil unrest – which he terms “disturbances” – are underway in Ramallah, preventing an investigation.

In Jerusalem, cops say the words “no cars, no Arabs” were spray painted on the sidewalk near five cars with deliberately punctured tires.

Soon after, an ancient synagogue was slightly damaged by fire from an incendiary bomb in Shfaram, an Arab community in northern Israel.  No one was hurt.
