France’s Foreign Minister says there is “no doubt” that Sarin Gas has been used in Syria’s civil war and Laurent Fabius points his finger directly at the Bashar al-Assad “regime and its accomplices”.

Fabius said lab tests in Paris confirmed numerous uses of the nerve agent Sarin.  These tests were conducted after journalists for French newspaper Le Monde smuggled blood and urine samples out of Syria following what they believed were chemical attacks in the capital Damascus and the northern town of Saraqeb.

The tests cannot confirm when or where Sarin was used, and Fabius did not specify.

“It would be unacceptable that those guilty of these crimes remain unpunished,” Fabius said.

Sarin is an extremely potent chemical nerve agent.  Use of Sarin is considered a war crime.

UN investigators said there was mounting evidence that both sides have committed massacres, engaged in torture and used chemical weapons, and is urging foreign powers not to increase the availability of arms in Syria.
