The search is on for a French family of seven kidnapped by Islamic Extremists in northern Cameroon.  Heavily armed men on motorbikes picked up the three adults and four children in the northern region near the border with Nigeria.

The military has recovered the vehicle the family was using before being taken.  A witness said the gunmen forced the family to leave the car at gunpoint, and a crowd of bystanders couldn’t get close enough to help.

It’s believed the insurgents took the Europeans across the border to Nigeria where other Islamic radical groups are known to operate.  French President Francois Hollande is cautioning French citizens in Western Africa to take precautions and avoid placing themselves in dangerous situations.

15 French citizens are currently being held in this equatorial region of Africa.
