Hamas say they have reached a long-term truce to end the seven-week war that has killed 2,134 Palestinians and 64 Israelis.  There was no immediate comment from Israel.  The Egypt-brokered deal reportedly includes an easing to the Gaza blockade to allow relief supplies and reconstruction materials.

That suggests that Hamas is agreeing for terms that are similar to those that ended more than a week of fighting with Israel in 2012.  Back then, Israel promised to ease border restrictions gradually, while Hamas promised to halt rocket fire from Gaza at Israel.  The truce held, but Gaza’s border blockade remained largely intact.

More complex issues, such as Hamas’ demands for an airport and a seaport, would begin next month.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli air strikes targeted two of Gaza’s talent buildings.  The Basha Tower, containing apartments and offices, was destroyed.  The Italian Complex’s homes, shops, and offices were heavily damaged.  At least two people were killed and 20 were injured.

In Israel, a rocket fired by militants in Gaza hit a house in the southern town of Ashkelon, injuring ten people.  Israel’s Iron Dome smacked another missile over Tel Aviv.
