Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Pakistani child education activist Malala Yousafzai she is “heartbroken” by the news of the Taliban massacre of school children in the northern city of Peshawar, killing 141 people – 132 of them children.

“Innocent children in their school have no place in horror such as this,” said Yousafzai, who is now completing her education in the UK after she was shot in the head by the same Pakistani Taliban while riding in a school bus back in 2012.  The terrorists were incensed over her advocacy of education for girls in the Swat Valley.

“I am heartbroken by this senseless and cold-blooded act of terror in Peshawar that is unfolding before us,” Malala continued.  “I condemn these atrocious and cowardly acts and stand united with the government and armed forces of Pakistan.”

Malala’s co-laureate Kailash Satyarthi – a children’s rights activist from India – called the Taliban attackers in Peshawar “enemies of Islam”.

“The terrorists who have committed this heinous crime are the enemies of humanity.  They are the enemies of Allah, they are the enemies of society and they are the enemies of Islam,” Satyarthi said in India.  “I pray that somewhere in their hearts, their conscience awakens .”

17-year old Malala added another statement: “And we should make sure that every child gets a safe and quality education.”
