Investigators are trying to piece together a narrative of why the Boston Marathon Bombing went down the way it did, now that the surviving suspect has reportedly regained consciousness and is answering questions.

19-year old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is hospitalized in Serious Condition.  Federal agents are asking questions about other potential members of any terrorist cell and any unexploded bombs that might still be out there.

The younger Tsarnaev took a gunshot wound to the throat, he’s responding to questioning in writing.  This is all taking place under the “public safety exemption”, which allows investigators to question a suspect without informing him of his right to remain silent and to have an attorney, when it is thought that he or she might have vital information about a threat to public safety.

Meanwhile, an Aunt in Dagestan is contradicting reports about 26-year old Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s 6-month visit to Russia’s Caucasus region.  Patimat Suleimanova says there was a 2-month period in which Tamerlan was unaccounted for.  And when he finally did arrive, he stayed inside and read the Koran and prayed.

Suleimanova also said the family expected Dzhokhar to visit Dagenstan in May.

The FBI is also taking some heat.  There are questions about why the feds interviewed Tamerlan in 2011 at the request of a foreign government believed to be Russia, but then allowed him to fall off the radar.
