Emergency Crews in China pulled off the amazing rescue of a newborn baby boy found in a 4-inch sewer pipe.  And doctors say the kid’s medical prognosis is good.

The entire rescue is documented on video.  Residents heard the boy’s cries coming from the pipe below an old-style Asian "squat" toilet in Jinhua City, Zhejiang province, and called firefighters to the building.  The rescuers went down one level, cut the drain away, and took him to Pujiang People’s Hospital where doctors used pliers and a saw to gently free the infant.

The child is believed to be less than two days old, initially suffered from a low heart rate and labored breathing, although doctors say that’s stabilizing.  He had also suffered numerous bruises to his head, arms and legs.

Police are looking for the child’s parents.  They’re treating the case as an attempted homicide.

The episode has prompted an outpouring of generosity from people who came to the hospital with diapers, baby clothes, powdered milk and offers to adopt the child.
