The terrorist army Boko Haram kidnapped at least 91 people – more than 60 women and girls, and 31 schoolboys – in its latest raid in northern Nigeria.  It comes two months after the violent Islamist militia abducted more than 270 schoolgirls from the region, most of whom have not yet been recovered.

Local defense militia leaders say four villagers who tried to escape were shot dead on the spot.  As Boko Haram has done in its past raids, the militants destroyed village of Kummabza.

Nigerian defense officials have not confirmed the latest kidnappings.  Last month, the military said officials knew the location of the girls taken from the Chibok boarding school, but the could not be rescued.  This is despite the international outrage over the abductions, and despite the presence of American drones, surveillance technology, and counter-terrorism experts deployed in Nigeria in recent weeks.
