People in Morocco are outraged after their king pardoned a Spanish pedophile who filmed himself raping 11 children aged four to 15 years old, and that pardon was a favor granted to King Juan Carlos of Spain.

They’re planning street protests on Friday.

A lawyer for families of the victims named the pedophile as Daniel Fino Galvan, who was only a few months in to serving a 30-year prison term for his crimes.

“He is a retired Spaniard who owns two flats here in Kenitra,” said attorney Hamid Krayri who filed the initial complaints against Galvan three years ago when activists came across videos of the Spaniard and his victims.

Many Middle Eastern autocrats often pardon prisoners on special occasions, such as Morocco’s Throne Day on 30 July.  But King Mohamed VI’s decision to release Galvan and other Spanish prisoners at the request of the monarch of a former colonial power has angered many.

“The king's pardon is a second rape for the victims,” a woman identifying herself as Meryem El said on Twitter.

“Is this Morocco's way to reach the long-sought target of 10 million tourists a year?” blogger Nouhad Fathi asked in a sarcastic post on her Facebook wall.
