A private jet apparently had mechanical trouble on approach to the airport in South Bend, Indiana and crashed into a row of houses.  At least two people aboard the plane are dead and rescuers can’t find one resident.

Fire and rescue workers evacuated the neighborhood because a large amount of jet fuel had spilled all over.  The Red Cross is putting them up at an area hotel.

The flight originated from Tulsa, Oklahoma more than 1100 kilometers away.  The pilot told the control tower at South Bend that the Beechcraft Premier I twin-jet was having problems.  A few minutes later, the jet crashed.
