United Nations weapons inspectors collected a good amount of evidence from a suspect chemical weapons attack near Damascus, despite being delayed by sniper fire.

The UN says the vehicle ferrying the inspectors was “deliberately shot at multiple times” by unidentified snipers while traversing the buffer zone between rebel and government-controlled territory.  Apparently, no one was hurt.

After replacing the damaged vehicle, they were able to make it to the scene, where they took hair and blood samples from patients still exhibiting the symptoms of a chemical attack, as well as dirt, and pieces of mattresses and pillows from a home where six members of a family died.

In New York, United Nations spokesman Farhan Haq said the inspectors had a “very productive” day.
