More than two months of unrest in Ukraine will be significantly dialed back when the sun rises in Kiev on Monday.  Protesters have largely ended their occupation of several key government buildings, and in return the government is granting amnesty to the protesters.

Authorities also withdrew riot police from a flashpoint district of the capital, near the Dynamo Kiev football stadium, where at least three protesters died in January in violence between ultra-radical activists and police.  And although the peaceful demonstrations continue, the hardcore anti-government groups partially dismantled barricades in the capital’s center.

None of the concessions from either side amount to a breakthrough, they essentially reset the situation to November – Protesters still want President Viktor Yanukovich to stand down for backing out of a long-awaited political and economic deal with the Ukraine in favor of a bailout from Moscow.

Yanukovich could nominate a new Prime Minister on Tuesday, and his choice could signal how much further he will go to placate the protesters.
