It’s the resignation seen around the world, thanks to the Internet.  An American reporter based in Washington, DC for the Kremlin-funded RT news network delivered her resignation because of Russia’s occupation of Crimea.  And her ex-bosses back in Moscow are none too pleased.

“When a journalist disagrees with the editorial position of his or her organization, the usual course of action is to address those grievances with the editor, and, if they cannot be resolved, to quit like a professional,” the station published on its website.  “But when someone makes a big public show of a personal decision, it is nothing more than a self-promotional stunt.”

Liz Wahl had earlier broke from the script, and told her viewers that she could no longer take part in what she believes is Moscow’s distortions of reality in heavily slanted news coverage.

“Personally, II cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government, that whitewashes the actions of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin,” said Wahl.   “I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth and that is why, after this newscast, I’m resigning.”

Later, Wahl told US reporters that she was also concerned about Russia’s anti-Gay laws and its harsh treatment of dissenters.
