The US Air Force has reportedly fired the officer in charge of preventing sexual abuse after he was himself arrested for sexual battery over the weekend.

Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Krusinski’s removal was first tweeted by reporter Jeff Ackerman of Wired magazine’s Danger Room blog.

Police in Arlington County, Virginia say the 41-year old Krusinski was drunk when he allegedly accosted the female victim in the parking lot in a commercial row and “grabbed her breasts and buttocks”.

Police said the woman fought off her assailant and scratches can be seen on Krusinski’s face in his mug shot.  The woman says she did not know him prior to the apparent smack down in the parking lot.  US Air Force sources say he did not show up for work on Monday and has not spoken with colleagues about the incident.

His arrest comes as the US military deals with sexual assault in its ranks.  The Air Force recently came under fire when a commander reversed a guilty verdict in a sexual assault case.
