Syrian Rebels have taken to the Internet to announce the abduction of a group of United Nations peacekeepers that was investigating a damaged observation post in the disputed Golan Heights near Israel.  It’s the first time that Syria’s two-year-old civil war has spilled over into the U.N.'s Golan Peacekeeping mission.

A group calling itself “The Martyrs of Yarmook” uploaded a video to YouTube saying the 20 foreigners would be held until Syrian government troops withdraw from the area.  The video shows U.N. vehicles but no captives.

The observation post was evacuated over the weekend when fighting from the civil war came too close.  The U.N. is trying to resolve the situation and prevent the war from destabilize more parts of the Syrian border.  Violence had been reported along the northern boundary with Turkey.
