It was slow and respectful instead of “Fast & Furious”.  But thousands of gearheads, busters, and just plain movie fans hopped in their rides and headed for Valencia, Calfiornia for a massive rally in honor of the late actor Paul Walker, star of the “Fast & Furious” movies.

All types of drivers and all types of cars were out:  From red hot Lambos to American Muscle, to the working man’s sport import craze that launched the “Fast & Furious” franchise, and to versions of the Nissan Skylines that Paul Walker himself drove in the movies.  A fan from Bakersfield came up with a huge poster board that fans could sign and leave their thoughts on as they visited the site where Walker and his friend Roger Rodas died when the Porsche Carrera GT they were riding in crashed into a tree and burst into flames.  Many left flowers and votive candles with pictures of Jesus or saints on them, a tradition America picked up from Mexico.

Those who couldn’t make it held rallies in their own corners of the world – Perth; In sub-freezing weather near Chicago; Vienna, Austria – With the fate of their favorite movies up in the air, it was the last chance for many to say goodbye.
