Only about a day remains before the Government of the Untied States of America shuts down because republican lawmakers are refusal to agree on a spending plan before the current fiscal year ends on midnight Monday.

The political division forms over the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as “Obamacare” and President Barack Obama’s most transformative piece of legislation.  It brings healthcare coverage to 45 Million Americans who didn’t have it before, forbids private insurance companies from denying care, and lowers coverage costs across the board.  It was passed by both houses of Congress, signed by the President, ruled 'constitutional" by the US Supreme Court, and endorsed by the American people who voted to reelect President Obama, and added seats to the Democratic Party Caucuses of both houses.

The republicans don’t want that, and only a few republicans have offered an alternative plan of tax cuts, which doesn’t help the 45 million who weren’t making the kind of income in which a tax cut means anything.

Over the weekend, the republican-controlled lower house voted to pull Obamacare’s funding.  It has absolutely no chance of passing the Democratic-controlled Senate, and anyone with more than two brain cells will tell you a President named “Obama” wouldn’t agree to pull the funding from his eponymous “Obamacare”.  Seriously.

If the US Government goes without a spending plan, among other things:  National Parks will close; Calls to crucial governmental agencies will go unanswered; And death benefits to military families will be stopped, after a decade of war.

One thing that definitely won’t be stopped:  Congressional salaries, even to the politically conservative republican minority who are throwing a spanner into the works, and in essence, blackmailing the world with their objection to "Obamacare".
