Closing arguments are expected today in China’s biggest political trial in decades, the case of former politburo member Bo Xilai.  The former 64-year old Communist Party chief of Chongqing denies corruption, bribery, and abuse of power charges.

Bo’s closing arguments will be closely watched, as it will be the first time he addressed the entire case against him.  His court statements so far have been to rebut specific evidence and testimony.

One thing people will be looking for is whether Bo will for the first time directly challenge his political enemies or accuse them of engineering this trial against him for political reasons.  So far, Bo has not done that, leading observers to believe that the trial is more choreographed and far less open than China is trying to make it seem.
