Investigators are turning their attention to to the "black box" flight recorders recovered from the wreckage of MetroJet Flight 7K9268, trying to determine what caused the flight to crash into the desert in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people on board.  The Airbus A321 was only a few minutes into its flight from Sharm El-Sheikh to Saint Petersburg when something went very wrong.  Russia's Interfax news agency claims that cockpit audio recordings reveal the

That candy was worth billions.  Activision Blizzard, which produces World of Warcraft and Call of Duty - is buying King Digital Entertainment, the creator of Candy Crush.  The selling price is more than A$8.2 Billion.  So if you're wondering if you're in the wrong line of work, the answer is:  "Yes.  Yes you are".  The combined company will reach half a billion subscribers in almost 200 countries.

Volkswagen is admitting it has found "irregularities" in carbon dioxide emissions levels from its gasoline-fueled cars, and the problem might effect 800,000 units sold in Europe.  VW insists that "the safety of the vehicles is in no way compromised".  But it comes after revelations that hundreds of thousands of VW diesel cars were rigged to cheat on vehicle emissions tests, with software that makes the cars run clean while being tested but alows engine to dump pollutants into the air far beyond lawful levels while on the road.

Meh.  This isn't the greatest meteor video ever captured, but what the heck.  Guy in Poland was rolling while the rock was falling.

Veteran and legendary free climber Alain Robert scaled a 36-storey building in Paris.  Which is nothing to this guy, considering that he previously climbed the Sydney Tower and RBS towers in Oz, and Chicago's Willis Tower back when it was still the world's tallest building.

Honey from bee hives near a shut-down nuclear power plant in Scotland has radioactive cesium-147 levels more than 14 times higher than honey from elsewhere in the UK.  The nuclear fuel reprocessing plant at Dounreay closed in 1994, but is still being decommissioned.  A spokesman for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency says even at that elevated level, the radiation poses poses little danger:  "The concentration identified is low and is not a cause of concern for the public or the environment," he said.

In Stupid America, police in Arizona arrested a 53-year old Arizona man for leaving his five-year old granddaughter alone in the desert with a cocked, loaded .45 caliber pistol and instructions to "shoot any bad guys".  Paul Armand Rater allegedly wanted to go into town for a cheeseburger and drinks.  He's charged with two counts of felony child abuse and one count of felony child endangerment.  The girl's mother and sheriff's deputies found the girl in the desert, clutching the loaded weapon.

An executive with American fast food giant Yum Brands is out of a plum job after being caught on video drunkenly bashing an Uber driver.  This happened in Costa Mesa, California over the weekend.  32-year old Benjamin Golden, who describes himself as a "southerner" who "likes Mint Juleps and horse racing" (seriously? Do you have a plantation, too?  Arsehole!), is charged with assault and public intoxication.  Driver Edward Caban had his dashboard camera on, and put the recording on YouTube to make it public.  It's a crime that couldn't have happened a decade ago:  Man loses high-paying gig creating widgets to buy tacos, because of assault uploaded to internet by ride-sharing app guy with a dashboard camera.  But class arrogance; well, that's just timeless.

Meanwhile in India, the Uber driver convicted of raping a female passenger was sentenced to life in prison.  The 26-year old woman used the app to get a ride in Delhi, but instead was driven out to a rural area and assaulted.  Uber driver Shiv Kumar Yadav also stands convicted of criminal intimidation and kidnapping.  The nightmare prompted Delhi officials of banning the Uber app and several other web-based ride services, accusing them of failing to carry out adequate driver checks.
