Dozens are hurt in an accident on a crowded, high-speed ferry – Remember that scene in the movie “Snatch” when they feed that guy to the pigs?  Yeah, it happened – Poorly chosen words following a national tragedy cost a Chairman his job.

85 people were injured when a high-speed ferry en route from Hong Kong to Macau collided with an unknown object in the water off Hei Ling Chau early this morning.  Passengers reported a loud bang and the ferry being thrusted upwards.  The 27 meter long jetfoil “Madeira” had to be towed back to the terminal in Hong Kong.  So far, there’s no sign of what the vessel struck, and damage to the Madeira itself for now appeared to be minimal.

An Italian Mafia boss met a most gruesome end - Francesco Raccosta was allegedly beaten with metal pipes but still alive when he was tossed into a pen and fed to the pigs.  Cops uncovered the crime while listening in on a phone call from a member of a rival gang bragging about his victim’s final screams.  Cops had been stumped about the disappearance of Raccosta since March 2012.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has changed its rules to allow some defendants to give evidence via a video link.  The ruling could affect the trial of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, who wants to remain on the job in his country during his trial for allegedly organizing post-election violence in 2007 that killed 1,200 people – charges he denies. The African Union has been calling for the trial to be delayed.

Libyan officials say at least 30 people were killed in an explosion at a weapons depot in the country’s south.  It’s not clear what caused the blast, but Libyan state television claimed that a number of people had stormed the depot to steal the ammunition not for its lethal purpose, but for its valuable copper.  Meanwhile, four more people were killed in fighting around the country as the rag tag alliance of militias that formed to overthrow Moammar Gaddhafi two years ago were further fractured.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai is condemning a US air strike that apparently killed a toddler and injured two women as another sign of America's disregard for civilian life.  The US has not commented.  It couldn’t come at a worse time diplomatically – The US wants Karzai to sign off on a security agreement to keep troops in Afghanistan past 2014, Karzai is balking.

The head of a supermarket chain in Latvia has lost his job over controversial comments he made after the roof caved in at one of his stores in Riga, killing 54 people.  Gintaras Jasinskas was chairman of Maxima Latvia, but angered many people when he said he did not feel “guilty”, and that “It is those who feel guilty who resign.”  The comments were considered arrogant coming so soon after Latvia largest loss of life in a single incident since the end of the cold war.

European leaders suggest there’s no chance of reviving an economic and political deal with Ukraine at the EU Summit in Vilnius.  Despite massive pro-EU street protests in Kiev, the Ukraine government is turning its back on Europe to deepen ties with Moscow. 

Yay!  Baby Panda at the Vienna Zoo in Austria!  Zookeepers named him “Happy Leopard”.  No, I don’t get it either, but it’s a Baby Panda!

French troops in northern Mali captured an escaped killer who was serving prison time for the murders of four Saudi tourists.  Alhassane Ould Mohamed, also known as “Cheibani”, was also wanted for the December 2000 murder of US diplomat William Bultemeier who was shot in Niger's capital.  He had broken out of the Niger prison in June during an attack by suspected Islamist militants.

Rugged UK actor Lewis Collins, best known for playing Bodie on the 1970s TV series “The Professionals” died in Los Angeles after a 5-year struggle with cancer.  He was considered to play James Bond when Roger Moore retired from the role but producer Cubby Broccoli decided Collins was too aggressive for the role.  He later retired from acting and ran a successful computer business in LA.
