The US Army says the gunman who killed three people and himself at Fort Hood in Texas had an argument with another soldier before the shooting, and was likely dealing with mental health issues.  Officials claim 34-year old Specialist Ivan Lopez never saw combat during a deployment to Iraq and had shown no apparent risk of violence before the shooting.  Sixteen others were wounded in the attack.

A Nigerian court has awarded almost A$325,000 to suspended central bank chief Lamido Sanusi after he filed a harassment case against the government.  An economist known around the world as a straight shooter, Sanusi was suspended after he announced that US$20 Billion in oil revenue had gone missing from the state oil company, which denies Sanusi’s findings.  The court is ordering the government not to arrest Sanusi, and to return his passport.  Sanusi was named central bank governor of the year for 2010 by Banker magazine.
