Skepticism greets President Obama’s decision to arm Syrian Rebels;  Turkey’s PM backs down on the issue that led to nationwide protests against him;  And no matter the length of time, there is no statute of limitations protecting nazi war criminals.

First off, BINDI IS JUST FINE.  There’s a social media hoax going around that the 14-year old daughter of Aussie conservationist Steve Irwin was killed.  Crikey!  It’s not true, and the kid even has a movie coming out soon.

The Obama Administration’s decision to provide unspecified aid to the Rebel fighting Syria’s civil war is getting a cool reaction.  This, after the US and UN confirmed that Syria used chemical weapons against the rebels, a “red line” President Obama warned against. Russia, which arms the Syrian government, was not happy.  Syria says the US and UN are lying about its use of chemical weapons.  France and the UK both expressed interest in arming the rebels earlier, but didn’t greet the news from Washington with any noticeable excitement.

Police and Hospitals in Northern Ireland are beefing up staff in advance of the G8 summit next Monday and Tuesday.  Enniskillin’s population could grow by 5 thousand people over the weekend, including delegates, their staffs, and protesters.

Stay in Jail:  That was the message from Italy’s supreme court upholding the prison terms for seven officials, cops and doctors, convicted of brutality against protesters at the 2001 G8 Summit in Genoa.  Protesters detained in a police raid were physically humiliated and threatened with rape.  In fact, all of the protesters arrested around that G8 summit were found not guilty of any wrongdoing.

Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has suspended plans to develop Gezi Park in Istanbul, the original issue that morphed into massive nationwide protests against the autocratic PM.  Erdogan urged young people to leave Gezi Park now that the issue will be left up to the courts.  He also blamed “foreign groups” for sparking the protests.

Howard Sattler has been sacked from his gig as presenter at Fairfax radio in Perth, after his (stone aged) assertions that Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s partner of seven years Tim Mathieson “had” to be gay because he’s a hairdresser.  Which he made to her face during what was supposed to be an interview.  That came only a week after a menu prepared for an opposition party fund-raiser that made offensive comments about Ms Gillard's body.  Seriously, some boys need to check their calendars:  It’s 2013.  Fairfax radio apologized.

India’s population may overtake that of China by 2028, according to the United Nations.  Both nations are each projected to reach populations of 1.45 billion people.  The population boom is faster than earlier projected.  The UN also estimates that the current global population of 7.2 billion will reach 9.6 billion by 2050.

Chinese “Marine Surveillance” ships have entered waters around the Senkaku Islands, the 22-mile zone around them have been controlled for 100 years by Japan.  China this year has stepped up its objection to that claim, continually sending ships and airplanes into the Japanese territory.

A top commander of a Nazi SS-led unit accused of burning villages filled with women and children has been alive and well and living in the north United States.  Now 94-year old Michael Karkoc apparently lied to US immigration officials in 1949 and told them he wasn’t involved in World War II, before settling in Minnesota in an area popular with fellow Ukrainian immigrants, according to an investigation by the Associated Press news agency.  Poland announced it would assist US prosecutors going after this war criminal.
