An infamous African warlord might be on the ropes – Roy G. Biv comes to Middle America – A drone attack interrupts morning classes at an Islamic school.

The Central African Republic has been in contact with warlord Joseph Kony and his Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) fighters to urge them to surrender.  Kony's exact whereabouts are still unknown according to the United Nations and African Union.  An AU official says there are reports Kony might be seriously ill.

US Secretary of State John Kerry says the United States and Afghanistan agreed on the wording of a security agreement that would keeps some American troops there through 2024.  It sets the stage for billions of dollars of international assistance to keep flowing to the government in Kabul.  The deal will be put before a massive gathering of Afghan tribal leaders later today.

A suspect US drone attack killed at least five people in an Islamic school in Pakistan’s northwest this morning.  It could spark another row between the two nations – Yesterday, Pakistan said it had been assured the US would hold off on drone strike while Islamabad tried to negotiate with the Taliban. 

A wave of bombings hit cafes, bakeries, and public markets in Baghdad.  At least 42 people were killed and more than 90 are injured.  The bombings hit both Shi’a and Sunni areas, indicating they were part of at least two coordinated waves.

Venezuela’s conservative opposition is calling for protests on Thursday, to condemn President Nicolas Maduro getting emergency decree powers for a year.  Maduro insisted he needs the authority to stop hyperinflation and gouging.  But even after using troops to force electronics and appliance stores to cut prices as much as 70 percent, Venezuela is still able to cut deals – The government and Korean giant Samsung will open a joint venture to produce consumer electronics and appliances.

Pakistani teenager Malala Yousafzai has been handed the European Union’s prestigious Sakharov human rights prize in recognition of her crusade for the right of all children to an education.  It puts her alongside past winners such as South African anti-apartheid hero Nelson Mandela and former UN secretary general Kofi Annan.  “Children don't want an iPhone, an Xbox or chocolates,” she said, “They just want a book and a pen.”

A US Congressman was sentenced to a year’s probation after being caught in a Police Cocaine sting.  But Florida conservative Republican Trey Radel is not stepping down – he held a news conference to announce he’ll take a leave of absence from congress to go through treatment.  Radel ducked out before reporters could ask him about his support for legislation that would have required impoverished Americans to undergo drug testing before being approved for food assistance.

The governor of the Middle American state of Illinois signed legislation legalization same sex marriage, making Illinois the 16th American state to have marriage equality.  In a ceremony in Chicago attended by local and state power brokers, Governor Pat Quinn put his pen to the paper on Abraham Lincoln’s old desk.  Religious leader had opposed the bill, but the tide turned after the endorsement of Chicago’s current most famous son, President Barack Obama.
