An investigation fails to make sense of the worst kind of senseless violence – A former Prime Minister goes on a hunger strike as her supporters fill the capital’s streets – More diplomatic embarrassment come from new revelations from the Snowden Docs.

Investigators released their final report into the shooting massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary school in Watertown, Connecticut – And it didn’t answer many questions.  Mentally ill 20-year old Adam Lanza acted alone, was obsessed with past school shootings and mass murderers, and had access to firearms and a lot of ammunition.  Lanza’s motive died with him.  20 children and 6 adults were killed in the attack last December.

America’s cocaine congressman is getting calls from his own party to step down.  The Florida Republican Party says Rep. Trey Radel needs to resign after pleading guilty to misdemeanor cocaine possession.  Radel took a leave from Congress to go into a treatment program.  He’s not the first American lawmaker with a substance abuse problem, but he is the first to be convicted of a drug crime while in office.  Earlier, the Republican leadership in Washington indicated they wanted Radel to stay.

Jailed former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has gone on a hunger strike in support of protesters calling on Ukraine’s government to reverse its decision to pull out of political and economic talks with the EU.  It bolsters the opposition on the fourth day of massive demonstrations.  The Ukraine government abruptly called off talks with the EU in favor of closer economic ties with its old Soviet master Russia, the people are clearly looking to the west.

Meanwhile, Europe’s two top officials are sharply criticizing Russia for putting pressure on Ukraine to drop plans to sign a trade and co-operation agreement with the EU this week.  European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso insist stronger ties with the EU would not undermine Ukraine's existing relations with Moscow and other neighbors.  Russia has threatened unspecified economic measures if Ukraine signs the deal with the EU.

Nine workers are dead after a factory roof came down on them in northeast China.  A heavy snow load from blizzards likely contributed to the lunchtime collapse at the plant in Mudanjiang city in Heilongjiang province.  The bad weather closed roads and led to flight cancellations throughout the region.

Malaysia is demanding Singapore explain reports that it helps the United States and Australia tap telecommunications links in Asia for espionage.  Singapore has not publicly responded to the allegations, which came from documents from National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden.  Earlier this month, the Malaysian government also summoned US and Australian envoys in Kuala Lumpur over allegations of a US-led spying network in Asia.

The UN is urging nations to create an international peace keeping force for the Central African Republic.  Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson warned the Security Council of mass atrocities and even civil war if nothing is done.  CAR’s history of chaos and coups got even worse during March with the overthrow of the president, leaving the country in the hands of rebel factions committing scores of atrocities, including killings, rapes and conscription of child soldiers.
