Video captures an amazing undersea rescue – New allegations are made about the shocking murders of two cops more than 20 years ago – Hawaii is suffering an increase of deadly shark attacks – And a newly revealed tale of generosity shows how Hollywood just lost one of the good ones.

Amazing video shows the moment that search and rescue divers off Nigeria found a man who had presumed dead for three days.  Harrison Okene was the cook on a tugboat that capsized, but he survived in an air pocket in the submerged vessel.  The video shows the divers’ shock as they discover a man’s hand in the murky water and it reaches out to grab them.  They gave the 29-year old a mask and an air tank and led him to safety.

Irish police officers conspired with the IRA in the murders of two senior Northern Ireland policemen in 1989, according to a new report.  Chief Superintendent Harry Breen and Superintendent Bob Buchanan were shot dead in an ambush in March 1989 in south Armagh.  The two men had just held a meeting in the Irish Garda station in Dundalk and were heading back north across the border.  The report from Judge Peter Smithwick claims his investigation has concluded that someone in the Dundalk station had tipped off the IRA, which within minutes had gunmen stationed on Breen and Buchanan’s return route north.  Irish Justice Minister Alan Shatter has apologized “without reservation” to the families of Chief Supt Harry Breen and Supt Bob Buchanan.

The UN for the first time is deploying unarmed surveillance drones as part of its peacekeeping activities. The first two were launched in Democratic Republic of Congo to monitor rebel activity near the forested borders with Rwanda and Uganda.  Both nations deny they supported the rebels, recently defeated by the 22,000-strong UN mission in DR Congo.

An American jailed in Cuba is asking President Barack Obama to intervene personally to secure his release.  64-year old Alan Gross was arrested four years ago, and fears the US government has abandoned him.  He was working in Cuba to set up Internet access for the small Jewish community, but was arrested for bringing in banned satellite phones as well as a special phone chip commonly used by the CIA and US Defense Department.  Gross wants help getting out of his 15-year prison sentence.

A kayaker is dead in a shark attack of Maui, Hawaii, the latest in a disturbing trend of increasing shark attacks.  This time, the shark bit the kayaker’ right leg but the man didn’t make it to hospital.  Three days ago, a woman survived an attack just a few kilometers north.  And four months ago in the same area, a shark ripped the arm off of a German tourist, killing her.

Surveillance video of the crash that killed “Fast and Furious” star Paul Walk suggests the men in the ill-fated Porsche had only about 60 seconds in between the impact with the light pole and the tree that tore the vehicle to pieces, and the explosion and fire that consumed the wreckage.  The first day of autopsies failed to determine whether Walker’s or his friend Roger Rodas’ body was found behind the wheel.

Meanwhile, a tale of Paul Walker’s generosity has been confirmed – Walker was in a jewelry store in Santa Barbara, California at the same time a US Soldier and his fiance were looking at engagement rings.  The couple, who did not recognize Walker, lamented they couldn’t afford a US$10,000 ring.  Walker quietly pulled the store staff aside and had them put it on his tab before making his exit.  The couple didn’t know who gave them the incredible engagement gift until this weekend, when the tragic accident freed the jewelry store staff from their vow of silence.

A team of French scientists is claiming that Palestinian leader Yassir Arafat was not poisoned in 2004.  They’re contradicting a report from Swiss scientists who examined tissue samples and determined Arafat’s body showed an “unexpected high activity” of polonium.  Arafat’s widow Suha Arafat is challenging the French team’s conclusion.

Pope Francis is continuing a habit he developed when he was Cardinal Bergoglio of Buenos Aires – The Pontiff is reportedly sneaking out of the Vatican at night dressed as a regular priest to minister to the needy, giving them money or just hanging out to let them know he's there for them.  It’s already well documented that when he was an archbishop, he’d conduct nighttime visits to the poor, the elderly and the sick of the Argentine capital.
