Uncle Sam cracks down on companies fronting for Iran;  The video showing a prominent mayor smoking crack is apparently “gone”;  And you know that thing you’ve been muttering to yourself for years?  That thing is true.  Seriously.

The US is blacklisting dozens of entities it says it a global “network of front companies” that have helped Iran's leadership circumvent international sanctions.  The 37 companies from Iran, Germany, Croatia, and South Africa funneled billions of dollars of revenue to Tehran despite international trade sanctions.

The evidence might be gone.  The US gossip website Gawker is reporting it made contact with the person trying to sell video allegedly showing Toronto Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack.  And that person now fears the footage is “gone”.  A Gawker reporter and two more from the Toronto Star newspaper say they watched the video on an iPhone, but neither outlet felt the need to immediately buy footage of the mayor of North America’s 4th largest metropolis doing drugs.  SMH.

Queen Elizabeth, the Royals, and 2,000 guests marked the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty’s Coronation ceremony (which apparently went down a year after she’d already become Queen).  Prominently displayed was St. Edward’s Crown, that big, giant solid gold and jewel-encrusted hat that her majesty used to be able to put on her head.  But she’s 87 now and that thing is pretty heavy.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says he hopes “organ eating” rebels don’t attend the Syrian Peace Talks in Geneva.  Known for his dark sense of humor, Putin was referring to the viral video of a Syrian rebel who embarrassed and grossed out potential allies in the west by cutting out and eating the heart of a fallen Syrian soldier.  Putin is allies with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, no stranger to human rights violations of his own.

The gang rape of an American tourist in northern India is highlighting that country’s struggle with endemic sex crimes.  The woman says she was hitchhiking through Himichal Pradesh state when a truck driver, who along with two friends picked her up and soon attacked her.  Police say every truck driver in the region is being ordered to report to police for investigation.

Yes, people really are getting dumber.  A new study published in the journal Intelligence claims the IQ of western nations has fallen by an average of 14.1 points over the past century.  It’s based on more than a century’s worth of visual response times observed by scientists, and supposedly we in the west have been losing 1.23 IQ points per decade.
